The profession of fashion stylist is on a rise and we at the New England Fashion+ Design Association are very excited to offer our members a 10 week certificate workshop through which you'll be introduced to the new stylist profession from the inside. You will have the opportunity to meet with industry professionals from the area and from New York to learn how to start and establish yourself as a stylist.
Celebrity stylist not only create important looks for their clients but they also influence the fashion trends and create ripples in our lifestyle: for example, Sex in the City put Patricia Field in the first row of trend setters – this, just to mention one example. So jump on for an exciting ride and adventurous future by registering for the Fashion Stylist Certificate Workshop. The opportunity to help behind the scenes during fashion week will be presented to the best and most outstanding graduates.

ABOUT DECÖ
DECÖ is the World Fashion Council's professional education counter-part. Our workshops are in high demand because they are taught by industry and educational professionals (many traveling from the best fashion education programs in the US such as Parsons, Pratt & FIT). We restrict enrollment in each of its classes to provide an intimate learning environment and ensure that each of our students has the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed in the field of fashion.
This reflects our educational philosophy, our personal commitment to our students and our ongoing efforts to reclaim the role of professional training, apprenticeships and real-world learning in fashion education. In addition to exciting member workshops such as the Fashion Stylist Workshop Certificate and our Fashion Trend-Forecasting Certificate we also offer a Fashion Sewing Workshop Series and a Fashion Illustration Workshop Series
. At request, a certificate of workshop completion is available upon completion of all workshops.
ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES OF INTEREST INCLUDE:

workshops (a favorite for those preparing to apply to the best fashion colleges and universities in the world).

LOCATIONS:
In addition to our regular schedule of online workshops and workshops in Fairfield County Connecticut, in 2009 we will also begin offering a regular schedule of workshops and classes in the Hartford-Springfield Massachusetts area and we will be introducing a regular schedule of workshops in the San Francisco Bay area beginning with a special fashion illustration workshop series taught by the award winning fine artist and fashion illustrator Kiril Hristov. In addition to his numerous awards and shows throughout Europe and North America, Mr. Hristov has also taught fashion illustration courses in both the New York and San Francisco area (including his current teachin at FIDM and the Art Institute of San Francisco).

Press Release Excerpt From Initial Launch of Fashion Stylist Certificate 1/2008:
Students in the 10-week fashion styling program, which starts Tuesday, will learn about the role of a professional stylist, which is to create "looks" and combine them with the client's lifestyle. Stylists also work with fashion designers and photographers.
Marc Feldman, co-chairman of the New England Fashion & Design Association, said the program will allow students to network with industry professionals, who will help teach the course, and work on the group's events.
In November, the association held a fundraiser to showcase the work of celebrity stylist and designer Kithe Brewster, whose clients include model Heidi Klum and actress Gwyneth Paltrow, and designer Rubin Singer, a Fairfield County native. Some students will have the opportunity to help with shows during Fashion Week, held twice a year in New York City to showcase designer collections. Feldman said the course is an economic introduction to the emerging industry of image consulting and fashion styling."It's a really up-and-coming kind of area in both fashion and business," Feldman said.
He said he recently read about a real estate company that hired stylists to work with its employees, which resulted in an increase in sales. The 10-week modeling certificate program, which begins tomorrow, will teach basic skills for the runway and magazine photo shoots, and help students develop a professional portfolio. The course costs $975.
Also tomorrow, the design cooperative will host a workshop for disc jockeys that will focus on the emerging specialty of using music to create moods for fashion shows.
